Long Eaton Bike Club OFFICIAL RULES

1. Fees and finances

1.1 There will be an annual charge for the membership of the club which will be subject to review by the Committee.
1.2 Membership of the club may be gained on receipt, by the Membership Secretary, of a signed application form together with the appropriate fee.
1.3 The club reserves the right to deny membership without stating grounds, with a refund of the fee where paid.
1.4 All membership fees and other club funds shall be paid into the clubs bank account by a Committee Member as soon as possible after receiving them.
1.5 The treasurer will monitor the club's finances and provide an annual account of funds.
1.6 Members should note that any deposits paid to the club for pre-bookable events are non-refundable.

2. Committee

2.1 The Committee must have a Chairman, Treasurer and Secretary and such other members as deemed necessary.
2.2 The Committee shall have a quorum of five, one of whom must be the Chairman.
2.3 The Committee shall meet periodically to discuss matters relevant to the organization of the club.
2.4 Details of each Committee Meeting shall be minuted and published in the club magazine.
2.5 The Committee may set a date for AGM and invite all club members to attend.
2.6 A club member may be nominated for a committee post by any club members, providing they have been a member for at least one year (two years for Chairman or Treasurer) and that they have earned at least fifty percent of points available.
2.7 A Committee Member may be asked to step down if the Quorum decide that he/ she is not performing their duties satisfactorily or that they have brought the club into disrepute.

3. Members

3.1 Members are encouraged to support the club by attending as many events as possible and by contributing to the club magazine.
Whilst participating in a club event members should act in a responsible manner to promote the image of motorcycling in the eyes of the general public.
3.3 Before arriving for a run club should ensure that their motorcycle is in a roadworthy condition and that they are in procession of a valid driving license, road tax and disc and insurance certificate. Members found not to fulfill these requirements may be excluded from the run.
3.4 Whilst on a club run no member shall overtake the run leader unless they have a valid reason for doing so and by doing so may forfeit their points for the run, at the discretion of the Committee.

4. Points system

4.1 Points will be awarded to club members for the participation in club events and contributions to the magazine.
4.2 A prize will be awarded to the club member with the highest number of points at the end of the year.
4.3 Committee Members are not eligible to participate in the scheme.
4.4 Club members not arriving at a summer run on a motorcycle will be eligible for only half the points available for that event, unless exceptional circumstances prevail.

5. Other commitments

5.1 On receipt of a membership application form and fee the club will provide the following:-

  1. A valid membership card.
  2. The current edition of the club magazine.
  3. A copy of these rules.
  4. The current Events Diary.
  5. A BMF membership card (except where already an individual member).
5.2 The club will endeavor to....
  1. Issue a free club magazine at least twice a year.
  2. Provide the best possible mixture of runs and events at the lowest possible price.
  3. Provide free advice on any motorcycle related topics.
  4. Protect members' interests in the local community.
  5. Project a responsible image of motorcycling to the general public.
  6. Attract new members to the club!
